Direct Marketing.

A lot of companies use a direct marketing. What actually is it? It is the kind of advertisement which allows organizations to contact directly to the customer, for instance by:

  • Text messaging
  • Phone calls
  • E-commerce
  • Magazine inserts
  • Direct mail
  • Telemarketing

Direct makreting has a lot of advantges and benefits. Here are some of them:

  • Generating awarness of the business among target clients
  • No need for face-to-face interaction
  • Building a qualified database for business
  • Developing an effective feedback system

However, there are also some disadvantage, which are more about customers' opinion about direct marketing.  For example, many people become agitated by the constant influx of direct marketing materials to their private mailbox. "Junk mail" and "spam" these to names are given by people to the direct mailing as it annoys a lot of consumers.

Minimalist Advertisements

On this week we were talking about different ads of products and it was really interesting. I found some articles and examples of minimalist advertisements. I think it is very creative.

Here, for instance, is an ad of Durex condoms, where we can see that it is much cheaper to buy Durex product then baby sit.

The ad of HARIBO gummy bears with orange taste.

The McDonalds advertisement, which promotes the free Wi-Fi in the spot.

The promotion of optics shops, it can be seen how glasses can change a person.

Brands that I like

So many brands of different things are in the world nowadays. There are expensive and more price-friendly, famous and exclusive. For me it is difficult to say what is my favourite brand as I have a lot. Talking about fashion sometimes I can treat myself and buy clothes from pretty expensive and high-fashioned brends like Gucci, Chanel, Dolce&Gabana etc.

Of course, it is only about some very special things for a special events. I prefer casual clothes from Zara, H&M, Top Shop. I like that they do clothes which can have a design simular to high-fashioned brand clothing, but for a much cheaper price.

Talking about gadgets, I really like Apple. Their products are perfect for me, I can't imagine my life without, for instance, my Iphone or Ipad. The design of Apple product is simple, but very attractive and their technical features are amazing.

Me as a buyer.

To say honestly, I am easily pearsuaded by different advertistments and also I always try to follow world trends.  These make me a person, who spend money for a a lot of probably useless and sometimes expensive things. Now, I am trying to cope with it.  Alone Live here, without parents , teaches me to save money, so before buying something I think is it really what I need and try to find cheaper options of this kind of product.

However, in some areas ,for example in cosmetics, I prefer more expensive products because of its quality. I had a sad experience in using some cheap brands, what has a bad impact on my skin, so I realized that it is better for my health to spend more money on it.

Advertising.

Advertising is a part of marketing which is used to persuade customers to buy or to use something. Nowadays, the sucess of a product is totally depends on a good advertistment. Actually, advertising is around us. We can see it almost everywhere: on posters on the streets, on TV, in the Internet and even on transport.  And,of course, as much creative is advertistment as more people it attracts.
In my point of view, advertistment should be bright and colourful with some interestind addings like probably song.
I really like this asian advertistment. It is a bit funny with a droll song and brightness.
In addition a good example of remarkable advertising is a famous Coca-Cola Christmas clip "Holidays are coming". This advertistment is used for years and it has become a symbol of coming winter holidays.

Product and Marketing orientation.

  • A lot of businesses are product orientated. This means that companies create a product and then try to persuade customers to buy it. The business develops products based on what it is good at making or doing, rather than what a customer wants. This way is often criticised as the final product is not really good. For example, drug companies which develop a product to consumers with an illness and then they market it.

  • Businesses can also be market orientated.  This is when the business reacts to the customers' needs. The decisions taken are based around information about what actually consumers wants more than what the company thinks is right for the customer. Most successful businesses take a market-orientated approach. In instance, Pepsi Max was designed to suit the needs of the consumers.

In my opinion, "Two Sticks" restaurant is a good example of customer oriented company.
It is a japanese restaurant net in located in two russan cities: Saint-Petersburg and Moskow.

  • The assortiment of meals is wide and everyone can find the food suits for the taste. There are children and vegeterian menu.
  • The location of restaraunt spots is very convinient, there is a "two-sticks" restaurant almost in the every part of the city.
  • The stuff is very friendly and patient. The service is fast.
  •  There are some creative and interesting things in the restaurant such as two toilets in one toilet room, speaking T-shirts on waiters and Italian music in restrooms.
